JHF HOSTS PAN AMERICAN HOCKEY FEDERATION BOARD AND COMMITTEE MEETINGS

The Board of the Pan American Hockey Federation (PAHF) has selected Kingston, Jamaica as the venue for their annual Board of Directors and Planning Committee meetings. These meetings will take place from May 13-16, 2010 at the Spanish Court Hotel, St. Lucia Avenue.

The Jamaica Hockey Federation (JHF) will play host to approximately forty (40) persons from the Pan Am Region, including Mr. Antonio Von Ondarza, PAHF President and FIH Vice President and Ms. Sue Neill, PAHF General Secretary, as well as Presidents and Executive Members from other countries in the region.

Some of the planned activities include:
May 12 - Presentation of ISSA/JHF U16 Schools Awards and Hockey Sticks to Expansion Schools by Ms. Sue Neill, PAHF General Secretary and Mr. Derek Sandison PAHF Treasurer

May 13 -     Courtesy Calls by the PAHF & JHF Board Members:
                  Hon. Olivia Grange, Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, 4-6 Trafalgar Road
                  Major General S.E. Saunders, Patron of Hockey, Chief Of Defense Staff, JDF

May 14 -      Dinner and Cultural Presentation, Mona Visitors Lodge.May 16 & 17 - World Youth Hockey Festival at the Mona Hockey Field from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

This festival is staged simultaneously in all hockey playing countries around the world and is aimed at providing a fun filled weekend for young players between the ages 6-21. This year's festival theme is "It's All in the Game" and the JHF's activities will include mini competitions, skills and technique demonstrations, video presentations, displays and rap sessions.

Tomlinson sets stage for hockey's development

President Victor TomlinsonPRESIDENT of the Jamaica Hockey Federation (JHF) Victor Tomlinson has whipped up support for a long-term plan to improve the sport locally.

Tomlinson made the disclosure following his return from a meeting with the hierarchy of the world governing body during a recent trip to the FIH World Cup in Delhi, India.

He had also resolved issues relating to the late withdrawals of two coaches from a coaching course, clearing the association from sanctions and penalties associated with their pulling out.

Captain Milton Richards Memorial Hockey Tournament 2010 Results

The Captain Milton Richards Memorial Hockey Tournament 2010 ended on Sunday April 11 and honoured a founding principle of the event by awarding "Academic Grant In Aid" to two tertiary level students who displayed Milton's character on and off the field during the tournament. Deidre Clarke who represented St. Andrew to the female award and Rushane Walker from Circus Circle captured the male award. 
St. Andrew won the female division and JDF retained their male title defeating Sharpe's Rebels and Circus Circle respectively. The Milton Invitational defeated Phat Thursdayz for the Mixed Veteran's title.
Other prize winners were;


  • Top goal scorer
    • - women: Camille Griffiths (St. Andrew) – 4 goals
    • Men- Brian Brodber & Nicholas Beach – (Raiders), Gerome Davis (JDF) and Joevani Gordon (Sharpes)- all scoring  5 goals each
  • Top goal keeper
    • Women – Shantel Graham (U21)
    • Men – Sheldon Brown (JDF)
  • MVP –
    • women Nicky Bradshaw (St. Andrew)
    • Men - Marlon Martin (JDF)
  • Most Outstanding Umpire – Larkin Christie (Raiders)
    The competition will be staged in 2011 on April 30 and May 1.
