Jamaica Hockey Federation courtesy call on Ambassador of Argentina

The Jamaica Hockey Federation’s (JHF) board led by Leon Mitchell paid a courtesy call on the Argentine Ambassador to Jamaica, Mr. Ariel Fernandez, at the Argentine Embassy in Kingston on May 6, 2013.
The JHF enquired of possible areas of collaboration such as providing an Argentine coach on a short term basis to assist with coaching development at the senior level, the development of a stronger relationship between Confederación Argentina de Hockey and the JHF, acquiring an affordable synthetic turf to replace the existing one, as well as scholarship opportunities. The discussions included the successes of Las Leonas (Argentina's female senior national field hockey team) and the model used to get them to a world ranking of 1 in recent times.  Mention was also made that members of the JHF Board will be attending the Pan American Hockey Federation's (PAHF) Congress to be held in Mendoza in September to participate in the election of officers.Ambassador Fernandez expressed his pleasure in hosting the JHF and committed the local Consulate’s greater involvement in the affairs of the Jamaican Hockey Federation when required.

Mr. Mitchell in responding reaffirmed his commitment to the greater development of field hockey in Jamaica and welcomed any support from Ambassador Fernandez and Confederación Argentina de Hockey. In attendance were Leon Mitchell - President, Denise Wisdom - Honorary Secretary and Richard Shaw - Director.
