At saturday Premier League's closing ceremony  Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) and St. Andrew Club took top honors, as they were awarded the Jamaica Hockey Federation 2009 Premier trophy.

JDF men successfully defended their title and St. Andrew women's club won all three women's divisions.

Premier League results for August 15

The JHF Premier League ended on Saturday, August 15, with Raiders United and Explorers registering victories in two games played. In the first game, Raiders were 5 - 1 victors over Explorers. Brian Brodber opened the scoring in the 5th minute. Nicholas Beach added a second in the 11th with Damion Kelly earning a brace in the 18th and 67th minute. Rashaan Smith scored in the 35 minute for Raiders. Explorers only goal came from the stick of Hynden Brooks in the 65th minute. 

The last game saw Circus Circle outplaying FIMI Wireless Munro College Old Boys (MCOB), 6 - 1. Sherman Brown (17th and 51st) and Kemar Mitchell (27th and 33rd) both scored two goals for Circus Circle. Kishawn Smith (48th) and Leon Kerr (70th) netted the other two for Circus. MCOB got there lone goal from Victor Tomlinson in the 41st minute.

Jamaica Defense Force successfully defends their Premier league title

In Tuesday's  JHF Premier League, the defending champions defeated Sharpe's Rebels. 2 - 0 and successfully defended their title.

Marlon Rowe opened the scoring in the twenty-eighth minute and thereafter Sharpe's defense managed to absorb major pressure preventing the defending champions from scoring with the Sharpe's goalkeeper Giovanni Green making a plethora of saves to keep Sharpe's in the game.

The second half started as the first ended with JDF creating many chances and the Sharpe's defense absorbing all that was thrown at them. In the fifty-seventh minute Sharpe's main goal scorer Giovanni Gordon was given a red card and Sharpe's attacks never look the same without their most prolific striker. In the fifty-eighth minute it was Jerome Davis the current Leading Goal Scorer of the league who put JDF ahead. With 5 minutes remaining JDF switch from attacking to possession as they passed the ball around to run out the time and successfully defend their JHF Premier League title.

Competition continues on Saturday, August 15, the final games will be played with the closing ceremony following immediately after at 6:30pm.

Dunn's Electrical (Closing Ceremony Sponsor) and FIMI Wireless (Munro College Old Boy's Hockey Club Sponsor) will both be at the field. FIMI Wireless will offer all their products at discounted rates to all players and visitors and Dunn's Electrical will present gifts to the same group.

Premier League results for August 9

Circus Circle defeats Jamaica Defense Force 3-1In today's JHF Premier League, the defending champions and current league leaders, Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) took on second placed Circus Circle, who look revived after their 4 - 0 victory over Explorers earlier in the week. This match brought the two leading goal scorers in the league, Jerome Davis (JDF - 14 goals) and Leon Kerr (Circus Circle - 10 goals), guiding the two most prolific offenses into battle. The fans were expecting to be treated to a bounty of goals from both teams but it was the defenses that shone the brightest today as only 4 goals were scored.
 
The first half was filled with opportunities for both teams and it was Circus who capitalized first through Sherman Brown in the twentieth minute. JDF drew level seven minutes later with Marlon Rowe putting the ball past the Circus Circle goalkeeper and the teams went to the half-time break 1 - 1. After 11 minutes of play in the second half, Circus re-took the lead when Sherman Brown (46 min) grabbed his second goal from a well executed penalty corner. In the dying seconds of the game Leon Kerr (70 min) scored to give Circus the 3 - 1 victory. This win puts Circus Circle one point behind JDF with only one round of matches left in the season.


Competition continues on Tuesday August 11, with leaders JDF playing against Sharpe's Rebels at 7:00pm. 

On Saturday, August 15, the final games will be played with the closing ceremony following immediately after at 6:30pm.

JHF Premier League results for August 8


Sharpe's Rebels plays Explorers to a goaless draw.On Saturday August 8th, 2009 the Men's Premier League fourth placed Sharpe's Rebels took on Explorers,who are currently in last place. The first half of the match was filled with flowing attacks from both teams with neither being able to find their form, when it came time to put the ball in the goal. As the second half rolled on, chances at goal were few and far between as the defenses stood strong and prevented any attacking movements from building up. With three minutes to go, Explorers dropped all their experienced players into their defense in order to secure not only a goalless draw with the Sharpe's Rebels but their first points of this season's campaign.

Competition continues on Sunday August 8, with leaders JDF playing against league contenders Circus Circle 4:30pm. On Tuesday, August 11, JDF will play their final game against Sharpe's Men. On Saturday, August 15, the final games will be played with the closing ceremony following immediately after at 6:30pm.

JHF Premier League results for August 5

Circus Circle defeats Explorers 4-0Action on Wednesday August 5th, saw 3rd place Circus Circle who are looking to recover from a shaky start to the second round taking on Explorers. The first half was full off excitement as both goalkeepers were kept busy throughout the half but neither could be beaten. In the second half it was much of the same, Circus Circle, broke the deadlock through their captain, Kishawn Smith, and went on to win 4 - 0 with a brace from Leon Kerr and an Aubyn Ferguson penalty stroke. With the win Circus Circle moved to second place

Competition continues on Saturday August 8, with Sharpe's Rebels playing against Explorers at 4:30pm.

In today's lone game in the JHF Premier League, Raiders United defeated FIMI Wireless' Munro College Old Boys, 7 - 2, with goals from Anthony Prendergast (1st min), Damian Kelly (3rd min), Richard Brown (10th min), Brian Brodber (12th min) Rashsaan Smith (20th min), Nicholas Beach (42nd min) and Garcia Kelly (55th min). Munro got their goals from the sticks of Carlton Campbell (23rd min) and Victor Tomlinson (63rd min).

JHF Premier League results for August 1

Defending champions and current league leaders, JDF, defeated FIMI Wireless' Munro College Old Boys, 5 - 0, in today's final game. Jerome Davis scored the first goal in the 10th minute and completed a hat-trick with goals in the 19th and 62nd minutes. Marlon Rowe (13th) and Marlon Martin (65th) got the other two goals for the JDF.

Earlier, Circus Circle and Sharpe's Rebels played to a 2 - 2 draw. Kemar Mitchell (8th min) and Sherman Brown (27th min) netted for Circus Circle. Shape's Rebels got their goals through Arnold Gentles (20th min) and Akeem Williams (64th min).

Competition continues on Sunday August 2 with Raiders United playing against Munro College Old boys at 4:30pm.

JHF Premier League results for July 28

In the encounter between the defending champions, Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) and Raiders United there were flowing attack and forceful defending. In the end JDF managed to emerge victorious, 2 - 1. JDF opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Jerome Davis and 3 minutes later Raiders' Brian Brodber took advantage of JDF's defenders backing off to put a thunderous hit pass the JDF goalkeeper into the back of the goal.

The second half was exactly like the first with both teams looking to grab that all important goal. There where many close calls for both teams but it was Jerome Davis who got his second goal of the match with 1 minute to go to secure the win for JDF.

JHF Premier League results for July 25

In Saturday's fixture, FIMI Wireless sponsored, Munro College Old Boys played against Explorers. It was an exciting match in which both sides looked as though they could be victorious, but in the end it was Munro who claimed a 2 to 1 victory over Explorers. Orville Hicks opened the scoring with a superb deflection into the top corner of the Explorer goal in the 5th minute, however Explorers hit back almost immediately with the goal coming from the most unlikely source, Oudney Hewitt (8 min).

After a long interval without anymore goals, and both teams playing flowing hockey, Munro broke the deadlock through Kwame Emanuel (58 min) who scored a well placed shot to seal the victory for the Munro College Old Boys

The competition continues on Tuesday July 28 when current league leaders, JDF, play against second placed Raiders United at 7:00pm. This game will follow the FIH Level 1 Course closing ceremony and presentation of certificates which starts at 6:00pm at the Mona Hockey Facility.

JHF Premier League results for July 19

The weekend's second men's match saw Sharpe's Rebels, which were looking to make a surge for the title, taking on Munro College Old Boys. Despite a Victor Tomlinson brace (45 & 57 min); Munro could not overcome the relentless assault of the Sharpe's Rebels. Sharpe's Rebels came out 6 to 2 winners thanks to a Giovanni Gordon hat-trick (31, 35 & 69 min). Sharpe's also got goals from Arnold Gentles (20 min), Kimani Airey (50 min) who finished with a beauty of a hit from a penalty corner. Munro were surprised by Roosevelt Rush (62 min) who finished calmly after alleviating himself from a defender.

Excelsior

Excelsior and Sharpe's Rebels played to a 1 - 1 draw in today's final Women's Division One game of the JHF 2009 Premier League. Shareka Williams netted for Excelsior in the 6th minute and Erica May-Chambers getting the equalizer in the 40th minute.

Raiders

Raiders United then defeated Circus Circle 2 - 1 with two first half goals (Nicholas Beach - 13th minute and Garcia Kelly - 32nd minute). Circus Circle got their goal from the stick of Gerald Richards in the 46th minute.

St. Andrew HC is JHF 2009 Women's Division One Champion

St. Andrew Hockey Club completed a clean sweep of the premier league titles by capturing the Women's Division One crown with a, 2 - 0, victory over Sharpe's Rebels today. Rohna Rowe opened St. Andrew account with a 60th minute strike and Racene Johnson scored in the 64th minute to secure the title.

St. Andrew Hockey Club had earlier captured the Under-17 crown with Flamez and the Division Two title with Spiritz.

Defending champions, JDF, defeated Explorers 6 - 1 with four goals from Jerome Davis and two from Marlon Rowe.

 

JHF Premier League results for July 11

In a thrilling encounter, Raiders United defeated Sharpe's Rebels 4 - 2 through a Brian Brodber's brace (17th & 29th minutes) and goals from Nicholas Beach (5th minute) and Garcia Kelly in the 35th minute. Sharpe's Rebels got their goals from the sticks of Giovanni Gordon in the 10th minute and Akeem Williams in the 30th.

Shakera Elliot's first half goal gave Tropics a 1 - 0 victory over Excelsior and a change to take the Women's Division One league title.

St. Andrew and Tropics tied in JHF Premier League's Women Division One

In a rescheduled game played yesterday, St. Andrew defeated Excelsior, 1 - 0, through a Nichole Bradshaw's 5th minute goal. last Sunday, Tropics defeated Sharpe's Rebels, 2 - 0 with goals from Nichole Grant and Shakeela Elliot.

JHF Premier League results for June 27 & 28

League leaders, Circus Circle (Men) and St. Andrew (Women) remained in their positions with contrasting results on Sunday, June 28. In the 3:00pm game Circus Circle defeated Munro College Old Boys 4 - 1 with two goals each from Leon Kerr and Charles Burton. Munro's lone goal came from the stick of Leighton Smith. The top of the table match in the women's division between Tropics and St. Andrew ended in a 1 - 1 draw. Ann-Marie Smith netted in the 10th minute for Tropics with St. Andrew getting the equalizer in the 70th minute from Audrey Gaynor.

On Saturday June 27, JDF defeated Sharpes 3 - 0 in the only game played.

Competition continues on Saturday July 4 with two games. St. Andrew will play against Excelsior at 3:30pm in the Women's Division One section followed by defending champion JDF vs. Munro College Old Boys at 5:00pm.

June 20

Raiders United rallied from a 1 - 1 halftime score with Explorers to win the first game on today's fixture 3 - 1. Nicholas Beach opened Raiders' account in the 8th minute and a minute later Explorers drew level with a Rudolpho Johnson's strike. In the second half, Nicholas Beach got his second goal in the 45th minute and Brian Brodber scored in the 62nd.

The second game, a rescheduled Sharpe's Rebels - Munro College Old Boys (MCOBHC) encounter, ended in an exciting 3 - 3 draw. Sharpe's went to the half-time break on a 2 - 0 score line with goals from Arnold Gentles (14th minute) and Giovanni Gordon (32nd). In the second half,  MCOBHC took the score to 3 - 2 with goals from Blake Roper (50th), DuVaughn Henlon (58th) and Orville Hicks (60th). Sharpe's drew level in the 62nd minute with a goal from Orane Reid.

Competition continues on Saturday June 27 with Excelsior playing against Sharpe's in Women's division one and Circus Circle vs Raiders United in the Men's division.

June 13 and 14

Flamez are JHF Under-U19 Champions and Spritz captured the Women's D2 crown

Flamez took the Women's Under-17 crown with a 2 - 0 victory over Tropics with goals from Demi Nicholson and Kamille Griffiths. Excelsior won the third place game, defeating Blazers, 9 - 0, with six goals from Shana Kaye Gordon's stick, two from Sasha Lawrence and one from Yanique Daley.

In Division Two, Strikers and Excelsior played to a 1 -1 draw in regulation time and a 2 - 2 draw in the penalty shoot-out. Excelsior took the game in sudden death to capture third place.

The Women's Division Two finals was taken by Spiritz with a 4 - 1 victory over Sharpe's Rebels. Kamille Griffiths, Ebony McLean, Danielle Brown and Racene Johnson netted for Spiritz with Michelle Thompson getting Sharpe's lone goal. 

Sharpe's Men then defeated Explorers 2 - 0 with goals from Arnold Gentles and Kymahni Gentles.

Competition continues today with the rescheduled St. Andrew vs. Excelsior Women's Division One game at 4:30pm and defending Men's champion JDF against current second place Circus Circle at 3:00pm.

May 30 & 31

Tropics remain leaders of the Women's Division One with a 2 - 0 victory over Excelsior in Saturday's game. In Under 17 action Tropics were 9 - 0 victors over Blazers with four goals from Shanar White, a hat-trick from Britney Smith and one goal from Jhannel Johnson. Division Two leaders, Spiritz defeated Tropics, 6 - 0 with five goals from Audrey Gaynor's stick and one from Andrea Stephenson. Amia Taylor's goal gave Sharpes a 1 - 0 victory over Excelsior in the other Women's Division Two game.

Munro College Old Boys defeated Explorers, 3 - 2 in the lone male game played on Saturday.

In Sunday's first game, Strikers defeated Excelsior, 3 - 0 in Women's Division Two with goals from Michelle Thomas, Michelle Holt and Myrtle Weir.

Defending champions, JDF, continue their unbeaten run in the Men's division with a 3 - 1 victory over Raiders United. In the day's final game St. Andrew defeated Sharpe's Rebels 5 - 0 to maintain their second place in Women's Division One.

May 23 & 24

Tropics move to the top of the Women's Division One with a 3 - 1 victory over St. Andrew in Sunday's feature game. Earlier, brace's from Michelle Holt and Michelle Thomas gave Strikers a 4 - 0 victory in Division Two against Tropics. The scheduled Men's game between Sharpe's Rebels and Munro College Old Boys was postponed.

In Saturday's action, Flamez were 2 - 0 winners over Tropics, then Sharpes and Excelsior played to a 1 - 1 draw in Women's Under 17. Excelsior Eagles defeated Excelsior 7 - 1 in Women Division Two and Spiritz were 4 - 1 victors over Sharpes.

Raiders United and Circus Circle then played to a 2 - 2 draw in the Men's Division and in the day's final game Shape's Rebels earned their first victory in Women's Division One, 1 - 0, against Excelsior. 

Competition continues on Saturday May 30.

May 16th & 17th

The weekend games began on Saturday in the Women's Under-17 division where Excelsior gained a 1 - 0 victory over Blazers with a goal from Denisa Russell. Sharpe's Rebels and Tropics played to a 1 - 1 draw in the same division with goals from Jonel Witter and Jhanell Johnson respectively.

In Women's Division 2 action Sharpes edged Tropics 3 - 2 and Strikers defeated Excelsior 6 - 0 with four goals from the stick of Michelle Holt. Excelsior then defeated Sharpes 2 - 1 in the Women's Division 1.

Sharpe's Rebels and Raiders United then played to a 1 - 1 draw in the Men's Division.

Three games were played on Sunday. Spritz were 2 - 1 victors over Excelsior Eagles, JDF defeated Explorers 6 - 2 with two goals each from Jerome Daley and Marlon Rowe.

St. Andrew then moved to the top of the Women's Division 1 table with a 1 - 0 victory against Tropics through a goal from Audrey Gaynor

May 9

The Jamaica Hockey Federation's 2009 Outdoor Premier league began with seven games in the female sections on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3. The competition continues on Saturday May 9 with six games, a Mini Competition at 12:45 pm and the Opening Ceremony at 1:15pm.

This year's competition will be played in four divisions; Women Division 1 (4 teams), Women Division 2 (6 teams), Women Under-17 (5 teams) and Men (6 teams). The men will play a double round-robin, the Women Division 1 a triple round-robin, with the champions the teams amassing the most points. The other two divisions will be played in a single round-robin with play-offs used to determine the champions.

May 11

The Jamaica Defense Force began their defense of the Men's title in the Jamaica Hockey Federation's 2009 Outdoor Premier league with a victory and Tropics moved to the top of the table in Women's Division One.

The weekend games began on Saturday in the Women's Under-17 division where Tropics and Excelsior played to a 2 - 2 draw and Flamez defeating Sharpes 3 - 1 with a hat-trick from Camille Griffiths. After the opening ceremony, Rosemarie Campbell's brace gave Sharpe's Rebels a 2 - 1 victory over Excelsior Eagles in Women's Division Two and Spiritz outscored Strikers 6 - 1 with a hat-trick from Racene Johnson's stick.

JDF then defeated Munro College Old Boys 4 -1 with Jerome Davis netting two. Action on Saturday concluded with a Women's Division One game where Tropics defeated Sharpes 2 -1 to move to the top of the table.

All the women's games were postponed on Sunday and in the lone male game played Circus Circle defeated Explorers 6 - 0 and now lead the Men's table.
